Goods imported through Omani ports rose during the first five months of this year by 28.4% to 15.7 million tons, compared to 12.2 million in the same period last year.
According to the official Oman News Agency, today, Saturday, the value of merchandise imports through the maritime customs ports between January and June of this year amounted to 4.1 billion Omani riyals (10.65 billion dollars), an increase of 37.4 percent on an annual basis.
The value of imports through seaports represented 67.6% of the value of the Sultanate’s imports in general, according to what the agency quoted the National Center for Statistics as saying.
The goods received through seaports constituted 86.1% of the total merchandise imports received by all customs ports in the Sultanate, during the first five months of this year, amounting to about 18.3 million tons.
Merchandise imports to the Sultanate through all sea and non-sea ports during the mentioned period increased by 21.7 percent to about 6.1 billion riyals ($15.84 billion), up from 5 billion riyals ($13 billion).
